How to Shift Your Energy in 5 Minutes (or Less)


Because sometimes you just need a reset—and fast.

Have you ever had one of those days where everything feels… off?
Like your energy is just not it, no matter how many coffees you drink or how hard you try to “snap out of it”?

First of all—welcome to being human.

Second—this post is your permission slip to stop pushing and start shifting.

I’m not talking about a full-blown morning routine or a total mindset overhaul. I’m talking about simple, powerful, energy resets that you can do in 5 minutes or less—so you can stop spiraling and start aligning.

Here are my go-to tools when I need to shift fast and ground deeper.

1. Anchor a New State with NLP

This one is straight from my coaching toolbox.
NLP anchoring is a powerful technique where you associate a specific physical touch or movement with a positive emotional state.

How to try it:

  • Close your eyes and recall a time you felt empowered, calm, or confident.
  • Fully feel that energy—breathe it in.
  • As you do, gently press your thumb and middle finger together (or create your own anchor spot).
  • Repeat this for a few days until the anchor sticks.
  • When you need to shift? Fire the anchor = instant energetic reset.

2. Do the "4-7-8" Breath

This is my go-to when my nervous system is revving way too high.
It’s subtle, grounding, and you can literally do it anywhere (even in a bathroom stall—been there).

How it works:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 7 seconds
  • Exhale for 8 seconds
  • Repeat 3–4 rounds

It regulates your nervous system, brings you back into your body, and slows down racing thoughts fast.

3. Say One Grounding Affirmation Out Loud

Affirmations aren’t just cute Pinterest quotes—they’re potent reprogramming tools when spoken with presence.

Try one of these out loud (bonus points if you look in the mirror):

  • “I am safe, I am supported, I am in my power.”
  • “I return to my center with ease.”
  • “I am the calm in the chaos.”

Repeat it three times. Say it like you mean it. Let your energy catch up with your words.

4. The "What’s Real Right Now?" Reset

When your mind is spiraling, bring it back to the now.

Say this out loud or journal it:

“What’s real right now?”
“What can I feel, hear, see, touch in this moment?”
“What can I control in the next 5 minutes?”

This anchors you into the present moment—the only place your power actually lives.

5. Mini Future-Self Drop-In

Even a quick mental check-in with your future self can change the game.
Imagine the version of you who already moved through this moment with grace.
Ask her:

  • What did I do next?
  • What would she remind me of right now?
  • How would she carry herself in this moment?

You already hold the wisdom. This just brings it to the surface.

6. Turn Up the Music and MOVE Your Energy

Sometimes the fastest way to shift your vibe is to literally move it.
Put on your favorite high-vibe playlist (or that one song that never fails to get you grooving) and just dance it out.

Sing at the top of your lungs.
Sway your hips.
Jump around like you’re at your own private concert.
Let it be messy. Let it be loud. Let it be liberating.

This isn’t about performing.
It’s about releasing stuck energy, shaking off the stress, and raising your vibration—one beat drop at a time.
